TELEMAN + Special Guests – Friday 23rd May – Bedford Esquires
The Pad and Club Biscuit have clubbed together to bring Bedford another one of 2014’s top tips, when Teleman will be coming to Bedford Esquires as part of their debut album tour.
“This great new outfit, featuring former members of Pete And The Pirates, fuse classic psychedelic songwriting in the Syd Barrett vein with tasteful synths and sparse guitar.” – Time Out
“London’s Teleman look like Alt-J but sound like Hot Chip remixing Belle & Sebastian.” – NME
“Of all the ones to watch in our top ten picks of this year, Teleman could be the ones taking everyone by surprise.” – The Guardian

Teleman first burst onto the scene in mid 2013 with two singles released on Moshi Moshi records, ‘Cristina’ and ‘Steam Train Girl’ were both indie dancefloor favourites, creating a wave of buzz from the music industry, leading up to their highly anticipated debut album release in March of 2014.
The singles and album were recorded by Suede’s very own Bernard Butler, with the band supporting their producers band on a string of dates in recent months along with British Sea Power.
If you were being lazy you could easily pigeonhole Teleman’s sound as being the Alt J of 2014 (Which is something the guardian did!), crossed with Django Django and touches of Velvet Underground and The Beach Boys. To us, it just sounds like GOOD. These guys formed out of the ashes of indie noiseniks Pete and The Pirates, but couldn’t sound more removed from their previous moniker if they used a hot chip powered saw to destroy their past glories. Best thing to do? Come see them while you still can at a small independent venue.

Support on the night:
GENTLEMEN:
Originating separately from the UK, Italy and Australia, Gentlemen connected through their shared love of the noir and the unknown. Their formation in 2012 and release of Night Reels I was the beginning of a journey which had them quickly receiving nods from the likes of The Guardian, Zane Lowe and The Fly.
Producing their latest EP themselves in Ireland, they became immersed in the progressive and jazz sounds of the 70s, finding kinship in artists like George Duke, Todd Rundgren and Pink Floyd. Their sound grew with the passion of its forebears before returning to London as a new sonic phenomenon.
Now with its espousal tracks ushered in by the glorious bombast of ‘Gentle Duke’, Gentlemen’s beautifully kaleidoscopic vision comes fully into light.
