We are delighted to be able to confirm that Eliza & The Bear will be performing at Esquires, Bedford on Friday 26 September 2014!

As a band well versed in delivering that all-important melodic hook, and with the lyrical prowess to match, it’s no surprise that the last 6 months has seen them receive support on the airwaves too. Fans at Radio 1include Phil & Alice, Fearne Cotton and Zane Lowe, who made ‘It Gets Cold’ his ‘Hottest Record In The World’, a track you may also have heard soundtrack the BBC coverage of The Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Eliza and the Bear are set to release new EP ‘Light It Up’ on September 29th via Mi Familia Music. ‘Light It Up’ is the band’s most infectious offering yet, the elevating title track from the EP is guaranteed to set festival stages and radio airwaves ablaze this season, ladened with melodic charm and dazzling sing-a-long vocals. ‘Light It Up’ follows Eliza and the Bear’s critically lauded singles ‘It Gets Cold’ (Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 Hottest Record In The World and soundtrack to the BBC’s Sochi Winter Olympics coverage), ‘Brother’s Boat’ (championed by Fearne Cotton on Radio 1) and ‘Friends’ (which provides the backing for the Bulmers Cider summer advert).

‘Light it up is about when life gets shit, not sitting back and letting it happen. It’s about sorting yourself out and turning your life around.’ James Kellegher

Mixing the euphoric hooks of Imagine Dragons and the off kilter energy of Crystal Fighters and Grouplove, Eliza and the Bear burst onto the scene at the end of 2013 winning a legion of fans supporting Twin Atlantic, Imagine Dragons and Paramore. Their dizzying live performances have helped them build a fanatical fanbase and this Autumn the band take their exuberant live set on the road for a twenty-date headline UK tour.

Hazy, dark, and dreamy, the young Oxford four-piece demonstrates an impressive talent for intelligent songwriting and fantastic production.

While the ongoing debate about whether guitar music is making a comeback (or if it ever went away) rages on, Pixel Fix have pointed out that guitars can continue to be used in exciting, original ways – it doesn’t have to mean a generic Britpop-revivalist sound. In their case, guitars are coated with effects and interspersed with synths to create their unique, rich sound.
