BThe Roar Club & Club Biscuit welcome DLL back for a 4th visit.
“DADDY LONG LEGS takes the blues and turns them inside out, upside down, round about and renews their primal energy. My favorite rompin’ stompin’ New York band of the moment.”
-Lenny Kaye

“DADDY LONG LEGS have finally made a studio album that matches their reputation as a firecracker live act. These 12 original songs expand and solidify their blues-punk sound while keeping alive a tradition and vital part of American roots music. Sounds great!”
-Jon Spencer

“…like Chicago blues fired at the moon, played by the demented children of the Pretty Things.”
-Rolling Stone

Brooklyn, NY-based trio DADDY LONG LEGS—Brian Hurd (vocals, harmonica, guitar), Murat Akturk (slide guitar), Josh Styles (drums, maracas) make their Yep Roc Records debut on May 10 with Lowdown Ways, their third studio album.

Produced by Jimmy Sutton and engineered by Alex Hall (JD McPherson, Pokey LaFarge, Jake La Botz) at Hi-Style Studios in Chicago, the album features 12 original compositions with songwriting contributions from JD McPherson and Sutton. A new direction from their first two studio albums (released by Norton Records), Lowdown Ways sees the boys widen their sonic horizons with field hollers, gospel, Cajun, and Mississippi Hill Music, coupled with their renowned supercharged, harp-driven R&B bangers.

When asked by Village Voice “What is DADDY LONG LEGS?,” Hurd answered, “Rock and roll salvation through the spirit of roots and blues.” While influenced by the likes of Son House, Captain Beefheart, Howlin’ Wolf, MC5, and Dr. Feelgood, their sound personifies garage rock and punk with a contemporary raw twist performed in their own brand of supercharged R&B.

Leading up to the album’s release, Rolling Stone Countrynamed “Glad Rag Ball”one of the ‘10 Best Country, Americana Songs of the Week’, citing “it’s all guttural hollering and foot-stomping rhythms.” Brooklyn Veganpremiered the official video for “Pink Lemonade,”co-written with JD McPherson and WFMU “Mornin’ Noon & Nite”. Since forming in 2010, the band has released two studio albums, a live album and two 45s on Norton Records. Their last album was 2015’s Rides Tonight. They have toured with Jon Spencer, Hurray For The Riff Raff, The Sonics, Nikki Lane, Nick Waterhouse, amongst others.

Support from The Broadway Twisters + Ray Waters.

The Broadway Twisters performed their stunning live debut supporting platinum selling artist Paul Young’s new Tex-Mex band Los Pacaminos. Since then they’ve hot-footed bandstands across the country including The Gypsy Hotel, Ronnie Scott’s and The 100 Club with the likes of The Urban Voodoo Machine, Si Cranstoun, Daddy Long Legs, Shonen Knife, Tenpole Tudor, Theatre of Hate, John Otway and Steve Conte from The New York Dolls.
In April 2016 they performed at Muse’s end of ‘Drones tour’ party at the Brooklyn Bowl at the 02 arena.
In 2019 the band were featured on the Urban Voodoo Machine’s covers album ‘Friends and Family’ alongside such exalted company as Jim jones and Wilko Johnson.
Along with hi-octane 50’s classics and a few ‘off the beaten track’ toons The Broadway Twisters’ incendiary brand of noir-country trash-R&R is evolving into something unique – think Dale Hawkins meets Allen Ginsberg.
Coming soon: the long-awaited debut album!
