THE WANNADIES + guests

November 11 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm
£25

We are excited to confirm that THE WANNADIES will be appearing at Esquires on Wednesday the 11th of November 2026, one of only a handful of dates for the band.

Formed in 1988 in the Northern Swedish town of Skellefteå, the Wannadies, along with The Cardigans and The Hives, were a key part of the Swedish indie scene that took the world by storm in the nineties.

During that decade they released numerous power pop classics such as ‘Might be Stars’, ‘How Does it Feel’, “Hit’, ’Someone Somewhere’ ‘Shorty’ from a succession of brilliantly melodic albums, but are perhaps still best known for the utterly fantastic ‘You and Me Song’, (76 million Spotify plays and counting!). Featuring on the massive soundtrack to Baz Lurhmann’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, It’s an anthem to unending love which has been the ‘first dance’ song of choice for thousands of couples who probably first met at their local indie disco. Perhaps even Esquires!

Reforming in 2016 with all five original members and still playing to huge crowds in Europe, we are absolutely delighted to be hosting The Wannadies for a rare and intimate UK show.

Tickets are £25 in advance, on sale from 10am Friday the 20th March from Seetickets and from Slide Record Shop / Esquires (with no booking fees). Booking early for this one is advised!

In association with Arts Council England, a very limited number of ‘Art is for Everyone’ tickets will be available for just £10 from Seetickets to those on a low income or to anyone under the age of 25, regardless of their financial situation.
