SUMMARY:Pearl Handled Revolver
DESCRIPTION:Pearl Handled Revolver\n7:30pm Thursday 28th December – Bedford Esquires \nPearl Handled Revolver have travelled a long way to get to 2023. Thankfully\, over the last decade they have had the decency to send regular updates of their escapades. Their four EPs\, two Live albums and four studio albums chart a journey from the limits of primal blues\, via unlikely liaisons between cult film scores and bare bones Stoner Rock\, to blackened psychedelic soul music. The aim\, to move the feet while the head slowly succumbs to a barrage of ideas regarding states of madness induced by the modern world.\nTickets priced £10 on sale on the link below

SUMMARY:SPEAR OF DESTINY + Derek Forbes & the Light (Ex Simple Minds)
DESCRIPTION:SPEAR OF DESTINY est.1983 + Guests \n7:30pm Friday 15th December\, Bedford Esquires\n\nSet to mark forty years since their formation this year\, Spear of Destiny have been making a stir with their punk-influenced power-rock since 1983. Emerging from the wreckage of iconic post-punk band Theatre Of Hate\, the original duo — Kirk Brandon and Stan Stammers — named themselves after the weapon used by Roman centurion Longinus as he pierced the body of Jesus as he hung on the cross.\n\nGaining traction in the UK\, and with Melody Maker enthusing that “by this time next year\, [Spear] should be huge”\, their debut album ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ was released in 1983 on Epic Records and they toured relentlessly across the next few years. After releasing ‘One Eyed Jacks’ in 1984\, and almost cracking the UK Top 10 with 1985’s ‘World Service’\, Brandon disbanded the existing lineup and Spear of Destiny vanished for much of the next two years.\n\nAfter bouncing back with a completely new lineup\, Spear finally achieved the success that had evaded them for so long\, with 1987’s ‘Outland’ spawning some of the band’s biggest hits to date including “Stranger In Our Town”\, “Never Take Me Alive” and “Was That You”. They also toured with U2\, eventually playing Wembley Stadium with the band that summer.\n\nBut\, on the eve of a slot at Reading Festival and with their first American tour on the horizon\, tragedy struck when Brandon was diagnosed with Reiter’s Syndrome. Over the following years Spear of Destiny struggled amidst Brandon’s diagnosis and legal problems that meant they were prohibited from using their own band’s name.\n\nAfter finally reclaiming the Spear name in the late 1990s\, Brandon and the band have worked consistently ever since: their ninth studio album ‘Morning Star’ was released in 2003\, followed by ‘Loadestone’ and ‘Imperial Prototype’ in 2005 and 2007 respectively.\n\nNow in 2023\, the current Spear of Destiny lineup is the longest serving to date\, featuring Adrian Portas (New Model Army/Sex Gang Children)\, Craig Adams (Sisters of Mercy/The Cult/The Mission) and Phil Martini (Jim Jones and the Righteous Mind)\, as well as Clive Osborne on saxophone and Steve Allen-Jones on keys.\n\nOver recent years Brandon has supervised a major reissue campaign of the band’s back catalogue\, restoring Spear’s early albums and stacking out releases with previously unheard bonus tracks. They’ve also played sell-out shows at London’s iconic 100 Club\, Manchester’s Ritz and Oran Mor in Glasgow\, as well as festival slots at Sign of the Times\, Rebellion and Kubix.\n\nHeralding an array of positive reviews for both their live shows and studio material\, MOJO enthused “Kirk Brandon is one of the UK’s best kept secrets”\, while Jeremy Vine says Spear’s ringleader is “one of our greatest musical geniuses”. With BBC Radio’s Jools Holland dubbing their 2014 album ‘31’ as “possibly [Spear’s] best album in 20 years\,” their recent efforts see the band at their professional peak\, with Louder Than War awarding the record 9/10 and commending: “Brandon puts his all into every song with epic bombast\, coming across as a tragic rock n roll anti-hero.”\n\nStill continuing to look toward the future\, Brandon has penned fourteen new tracks for the latest Spear of Destiny album ‘Ghost Population’. Both fan forums and music journalists alike have heralded the release of ‘Ghost Population’. May 2023 will see the full commercial release of the album into the shops on Brandon’s own Eastersnow recording Company via Code 7 Distribution.\n\nSpear of Destiny play 38 shows across the UK in April\, May and June 2023\, some as Special Guests to long term friends Big Country others as headline shows in their own right.\n\nTickets priced £20 are on sale now from Esquires Bar and Slide Record Shop in person (booking fee free) and online from Seetickets

YES 100% \nBLAZE BAYLEY – VOCALS \nJASE EDWARDS – GUITAR \nJEFF HATELEY – BASS \nSTEVE DANGER – DRUMS \nThe band were formed by schoolmates Jeff Hateley and Jase Edwards in 1984. Joined later by Blaze Bayley and Steve Danger\, Wolfsbane was born with a mission to form the greatest band in Tamworth. With Steve came a van!!! Now WOLFSBANE had a van… and they were on the move! Tamworth was not enough. Nowhere near enough!! \nAfter refining their sound and look Wolfsbane were poured onto the British music scene like some kind of alcohol and adrenaline fuelled monster ! They were quickly signed by Rick Rubin to his new Def American label and ‘Live Fast Die Fast’ was recorded at THE Sound City in Los Angeles. \nBrendan O’Brein took over the producer’∂s chair and the critically acclaimed ‘All Hells Breaking Loose Down At Little Kathy Wilsons Place’ was born! \nNext came a series of headline tours and big support slots with Alice Cooper\, Motorhead\, Guns n Roses (in America) and a UK wide tour with Iron Maiden. \nAfter recording the MASSIVE NOISE INJECTION live album at a sold out Marquee. They went back into the studio to record a 3rd studio album Down Fall The Good Guys. Recorded at ABBEY ROAD London with Brendan back at the helm as producer Then another sold out headline tour and the release of the ‘Ezy’ single \nAfter parting with Def American through mutual consent in the form of a broken clause in their contract\, WOLFSBANE were free to sign with the newly resurrected BRONZE RECORDS and Pete Winkleman.  The recording of their next album with Producer Simon Effemy was underway and it was time to mix this new masterpiece when the news reached the rest of the band that Blaze had joined IRON MAIDEN. \nFAST FORWARD 16yrs.….WOLFSBANE reformed!! and an EP ironically titled ‘Did It For The Money’ showed the band had not lost their sense of fun. With a sold-out and heaving show at the BORDERLINE London they were asked to be special guests by SAXON on their ‘Call To Arms’ tour. \nIn the years they’d been apart guitarist Jase Edwards had become a successful record producer working with some well known bands. He produced the band’s most recent album ‘WOLFSBANE SAVE THE WORLD’ which was reviewed as probably the band’s finest album. Several headline tours followed with appearances at HARD ROCK HELL\, LEGENDS OF ROCK and headline slots on the second stage at BLOODSTOCK and the TAMWORTH ROCK FESTIVAL. \nThings are going very well for WOLFSBANE. The band love it!! They do it because they LOVE it and best of all its a lot of FUN!!!. There has never been a better time to go and see WOLFSBANE. \n\nTickets priced £15 are on sale from Friday 3rd March at 10am from Seetickets and in person from Slide Record Shop and Bedford Esquires Bar.
