DESCRIPTION:Miki Berenyi Trio are Miki Berenyi on vocals/guitar (Lush)\, Kevin ‘Moose’ McKillop on guitar (Moose) and Oliver Cherer (Gilroy Mere\, Aircooled). The three musicians first worked together during Piroshka’s 2021 tour – Miki and Kevin being founder members\, Oliver coming in on bass to replace Mick Conroy (Modern English) who had moved to the US. \nWhen the global pandemic made touring impossible\, Miki spent the lockdown months writing her memoir\, Fingers Crossed\, released in 2022 to widespread acclaim. To provide some musical accompaniment for the string of book events and signings\, Miki Berenyi Trio was formed. \nThe band has developed a momentum of its own\, touring with the Wedding Present and Gang of Four and sold out London co-headline show with Aircooled. It’s the Squeeze\, The Leader and recent release Return the Day (Colours) are all full of horror movie chill\, vibrancy and skyscraping choruses. \nThe journey from their Bedfordshire origins to the capital’s pulsing heart wasn’t just geographical; it was transformative. As Katie explains\, “Honestly\, the car journeys home after rehearsing in London broke us\, so we all officially live in London now\, which is where the rest of the Dogs were based.” This convergence in the capital has allowed the band – completed by Katie’s brother Jed on drums\, Will Macnab on bass\, and Dillon handling synth and keys – to forge something more cohesive\, more intentional. \nThose unassuming beginnings seem like ancient history now. The band have evolved into something far more formidable\, their sound a dark amalgamation of influences that spans decades and continents. Their musical DNA draws deeply from the wellspring of German experimental music\, with Katie noting their inspiration from pioneering artists: “We’ve taken a lot of inspiration from German artists such as Kraftwerk\, Klaus Nomi and Xmal Deutschland. DESCRIPTION:Legends of the UK live scene\, there’s not many festivals or indeed towns that these boys haven’t played in the 34 years they’ve been together. In that time\, they have released five albums\, sold over 2 million records\,been streamed over 50 million times worldwide\, and enjoyed 12 Top 40 singles\, including the massive hit Good Enough’ – officially one of the most played tracks on British radio in the last 30 years. \nThe recent Anniversary Tours of Dodgy’s classic albums\, Free Peace Sweet – a fan favourite and deemed a classic album of the era\, spawning hits such as ‘In A Room’\, ‘If You’re Thinking Of Me’\, ‘Found You’ and of course\, ‘Good Enough’\, and the hugely successful shows for Homegrown – ‘Staying Out For The Summer’\, ‘So Let Me Go Far’\, ‘Melodies Haunt You’ and the modern classic\, ‘Grassman’- that culminated in unforgettable nights at Shepherds Bush Empire and The Forum\, have seen the busiest years for the band since the crazy days of the mid 90’s. \nDodgy are a rare entity nowadays as the band still boast the original line up of Nigel Clark\, Mathew Priest and Andy Miller\, which is a miracle considering the scrapes and conditions they have been in over their career but they are better and more energized than ever\, which is partly down to some clever signings over the years to add depth and beauty to their squad\, with Stu Thoy on bass and multi-instrumentalist\, Graham Mann. And it’s this line up that is currently in the studio in Wales working on the highly anticipated follow up to the critically acclaimed album What Are We Fighting For\, that will be released at the start of 2026. \nDodgy actually released their Ian Broudie produced debut album in 1993 before the whole Britpop phenomenon kicked off but by having a broader appeal and being blessed with being nimble and possessing great balance\, the boys managed to surf that wave with alarming aplomb. From humble beginnings in Torquay\, Devon\, to trading licks with the likes of Joe Bonamassa and Billy Gibbons on the world stage\, Kris has already lived a hundred lives that defy his youth and exuberance. Kris’ own project Kris Barras Band had a mammoth 2024. From selling out headline shows in British castles\, headlining Planet Rockstock\, and a Top #5 UK album with Halo Effect. Known for the gravelly vocal tone and immense guitar playing that gifted him a rapid ascent in the British blues-rock world\, it is no surprise that KBB’s music has evolved year-on-year. KBB hit it off with acclaimed US hard rock songwriters and signed to Earache Records which set off a creative chain reaction that led to a darker\, heavier\, and more energetic sound. Whilst KBB is firmly intrenched in the world of heavy music\, Kris is still a bluesman at heart. DESCRIPTION:Hue and Cry – Electro Acoustic show  \n7:30pm\, Fri 24th October 2024 – Bedford Esquires \nPleased to announce 80’s legends HUE & CRY come to Bedford Esquires Friday 24th October for a special Electro / Acoustic show.  Alongside Wet Wet Wet\, Texas\, and Deacon Blue\, blue-eyed soul pop siblings Hue & Cry were one of the most successful acts to emerge from the Scottish music scene that dominated the charts in the late ’80s with  Top 40 hits such as LABOUR OF LOVE\, LOOKING FOR LINDA\, ORDINARY ANGEL and 2 top 10 albums \nBrothers Patrick and Gregory Kane formed Hue and Cry in 1983 and the duo made a huge impact in the late 80’s with the albums ‘Seduced and Abandoned’ and ‘Remote’ as well as massive hit singles such as ‘Labour of Love.’ Albums like ‘Stars Crash Down’ and ‘Jazz Not Jazz’ ensured Hue and Cry’s continued triumph in the 1990’s\, whilst the release of the hugely applauded ‘Open Soul’ in 2008 brought them firmly back into the limelight. The release of their seasonal album ‘Xmasday’ (2009)\, was followed by live album ‘Bitter Suite Again’ (2010)\, and 2012’s ‘Hot Wire’. 2017 saw the them release their twelfth studio album\, ‘Pocketful Of Stones’ to rave reviews from the press. To date Hue and Cry have sold in excess of two million records worldwide. \n2014 signalled the 25th anniversary of the seminal Hue and Cry album ‘Remote’\, released to not only huge acclaim but to multi-platinum success\, spawning the singles ‘Ordinary Angel’\, ‘Violently’ and ‘Looking for Linda’. To mark this Hue and Cry released ‘Remote: Major to Minor’ a multi-media celebration of ‘Remote’ which comes as a limited edition 48 paged book containing four discs\, including a re-worked and re-imagined version of the original album. In 2015 the brothers returned to the live scene with both their stripped format and full live band. 2015 also marked the centenary of Frank Sinatra’s birth\, an artist whose career has been a huge influence on Pat and Greg’s musical style. To celebrate they recorded ‘September Songs’ a covers album dedicated to the original ‘Chairman of the Board’. 2016 was a busy year for the them\, especially on the live scene with performances throughout the UK. The duo embarked on a winter tour with Paul Young and were invited to join Bros singer Matt Goss on two dates of his solo Christmas Tour. To end the year on a high the band were special guests as part of BBC One Scotland’s live television broadcast for Hogmanay. In 2017 they released their long awaited twelfth studio album Pocketful Of Stones to critical acclaim\, gaining 4/5 stars in both the Sunday Express and The Scotsman. 2018 was a very busy year for Hue and Cry who played headline shows and festivals throughout the UK and Ireland\, including a British tour with fellow legendary band The Christians. \nIn 2019\, Hue and Cry sold out their ‘Summer Nights at the Bandstand’ show at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Bandstand within 48 hours as well as playing live all over the UK. They continued their stellar form into 2020\, announcing shows up and down the country. \nHue and Cry have garnered a wealth of publicity throughout their career and most recently with notable TV\, Radio and Press outlets such as Lorraine (ITV); The Wright Stuff (Channel 5); Vintage TV; The Quay Sessions (BBC Scotland); Robert Elms (BBC London); Phil Williams (BBC Radio 5 Live); The Herald\, The Daily Record\, Record Collector\, Classic Pop; Mail On Sunday and Songwriting Magazine. \nThey have sold tens of thousands of concert tickets worldwide\, as well as performing alongside some of the greatest artists in music history\, appearing with U2\, James Brown\, Madonna\, Al Green and Van Morrison to name but a few. During 2019 the line up was boasted by Saxophonist Clive Osborne. Long time Brandon collaborator Steve Allen-Jones completes the band line up on keyboards bringing the full classic sound back to the stage. \nFor SPEAR OF DESTINY 2025 will be the year of ‘Janus”. DESCRIPTION:Toby Lee – 7:30pm\, Thursday 30th October\, Bedford Esquires\n\nDubbed a future superstar of the blues by Joe Bonamassa\, 17-year-old Toby Lee boasts an impressive musical CV.\nToby’s journey started at just 4-years-old when his grandma bought him a yellow and green ukulele. This little instrument went everywhere with him\, and he played it constantly – mainly tunes by Elvis and Buddy Holly.\n\nWhen he was eight\, he got his first electric guitar for Christmas while staying at a hotel in Cornwall. By chance\, staying at the same hotel was Mick Box from Uriah Heep. Mick gave Toby some great advice and some picks and from that moment\, Toby knew exactly what he wanted to do when he grew up!\nToby spent a year playing the role of Zack Mooneyham in the original Andrew Lloyd Webber West End production of School of Rock the Musical. He won an Olivier Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Music” with School of Rock. “It’s a long way to the top if you wanna Rock n Roll” but Toby is definitely living the dream.\n\nHe has appeared on many TV shows around the world including TFI Friday twice\, LittleBig Shots USA\, Spain and the UK\, Comic Relief\, Michael McIntyre\, The X Factor\, Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway\, Blue Peter and Tonight at the London Palladium where he performed with McFly.\n\nHe jammed with Ronnie Baker Brooks at the Blues Heaven Festival in Denmark and the video went viral with over 115 million views. Toby now has over 400 million views on social media.\nToby represented the UK at the 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis – later that year he was announced as the Young Blues Artist of the Year at the UK Blues Awards. He was also featured in a television documentary called Child Prodigies. In 2019\, he was flown to Los Angeles to appear on the Ellen Degeneres Show\, where he performed and was interviewed by Ellen.\nToby has shared the stage with a host of stars including Buddy Guy\, Billy Gibbons\, Peter Frampton\, Slash\, Lukas Nelson\, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and has appeared alongside his hero\, Joe Bonamassa at the Royal Albert Hall.\n\nToby has been a Gibson Artist since the age of ten and is endorsed by Blackstar Amplification and D’Addario Strings

They are doing a small tour to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the classic MOD album SO FAR AWAY \nThe CHORDS were and are one of the most exciting live bands to hit the stage. \nThe Chords formed in 1978 in South East London. One of the key bands of the ‘Mod Revival’ scene sweeping the UK around that time\, The Chords had two singles in the UK charts – ‘Now It’s Gone’ and ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ – before they released their debut album ‘So Far Away’ in January 1980. \nThe Chords UK\, fronted by main songwriter of the Chords Chris Pope\, will perform this classic album in it’s entirety along with more classics to celebrate the 45th anniversary.

DESCRIPTION:The Herbaliser Band + Guests \n7:30pm\, Sat 1st November\, Bedford Esquires \nWay back In 1995\, Ollie Teeba and Jake Wherry AKA The Herbaliser\, a sample-based beatmaking duo from Twickenham\, South West London\, released their debut 12” single ‘The Real Killer’ on UK label Ninja Tune. \nThey soon followed up with their first LP\, ‘Remedies’ Establishing themselves as one of the main features of the Ninja Tune crew\, as they expanded their roster of eclectic artists and DJs. The following year\, as they were recording their second full length release\, ‘Blow Your Headphones’\, they extended their output to include an 8 piece live band. \nThe Herbaliser Band\, (which would count among it’s members\, the likes of Easy Access\, Chris Bowden and Kaidi Tatham) continued on\, touring internationally\, to great reception\, from diverse audiences and would become regulars at a multitude of electronic\, dance\, dub and jazz festivals\, worldwide\, for the next 2 decades or so. \nNow\, in 2023\, after something of a hiatus\, The Herbaliser Band have reformed with a lineup that currently includes Easy Access AKA Ralph Lamb (trumpet/flugelhorn) & Andrew Ross (tenor/baritone sax-flute)\, James Morton (alto sax)\, Micah Moody (drums)\, Patrick Dawes (percussion) & Ollie Teeba on the turntables. \nTickets priced £25 are on sale from Seetickets from Friday 2nd May and available locally from Slide Record Shop and Esquires Bar
