SUMMARY:The BellRays + The Zipheads ***TONIGHT***
DESCRIPTION:Last year The Roar Club and Club Biscuit brought Ezra Furman to Bedford. In 2016 we are excited to bring you another helping of transatlantic rock’n’roll with the amazing BellRays. \nBlues is the teacher. Punk is the preacher. It’s all about emotion and energy\, experience and raw talent\, spirit and intellect. Exciting things happen when these things collide. Bob Vennum and Lisa Kekaula made the BellRays happen in 1991 in East LA but they weren’t really thinking about any of this then. They wanted to play music and they wanted it to feel good. They wanted people to WANT to get up\, to NEED to get up and check out what was going on. Form an opinion. React. \nThey took everything they knew about; the Beatles\, Stevie Wonder\, the Who\, the Ramones\, Billie Holiday\, Lou Rawls\, Hank Williams\, the DB’s\, Jimmy Reed\, Led Zeppelin\, to name a very few and pressed it into service. The results are irresistable. \n‘For two decades The BellRays have sounded like a cranked up Seventies Detroit scuzz band fronted by a Sixties soul belter. When the MC5 toured with replacement vocalists The Bellrays’ Lisa Kekaula gave her best punk rock Aretha’ (Stewart Lee) \n(You may also know vocalist Lisa Kekaula from Basement Jaxx’s massive hit ‘Good Luck’…) \nIn the UK to perform at the All Tomorrow Parties’ festival\, we are privileged to be able to bring them to Esquires. As essential as breathing. This will be spectacular. \nSupport from the amazing ZIPHEADS. \nTickets are £10 in advance\, available from http://www.seetickets / http://www.wegottickets and from Danny’s Bar / Mario’s Hair Design / Palnet Boutique.

DESCRIPTION:***UNFORTUNATELY ESTRONS HAVE HAD TO CANCEL THIS GIG DUE TO AN URGENT PERSONAL MATTER. REFUNDS AVAILABLE FROM POINT OF PURCHASE**** \nKLANG\, KERFAZZ\, SPROINK\, you LOVE these sounds. And so you should. In fact\, you want more right? Then let me tantalise your ear-buzz-taste-buds with the news that the most ferocious sound in indie right now will be leaping onto a stage in Bedford soon…E S T R O N S \nGive us a fact you say.. ok\, in Welsh\, Estrons means ALIENS. \nEvery year Clubs ROAR and BISCUIT have tried to find an act who are so fuggin amazingly great that they will split opinions left\, right and centre yet still go on to great things. In 2013 we gave you Public Service Broadcasting\, in 2014\, Fat White Family and Sleaford Mods with Ezra Furman in 2015. We have a rep to protect\, 2016 is here and so are E S T R O N S. \nAfter all that excitement\, heres some blurb we nicked from Gigwise…\nEstrons write songs that revolve around the topics of dominance\, belonging and self doubt. They’re a band that truly capture the political-punk Riot Grrrl spirit with the vigour that will inspire generations of bands in the future\, driven by the same ideals and passion for making incredible music. \nLast year\, singer Taliesyn gave birth to her son Björn and toured Wales within a month of his birth. The band’s video for ‘Aliens’ whipped up a bit of attention\, as it features Taliesyn breast feeding. It’s a statement-making video that showcases the band’s ability to deal with all subject matter without batting an eye and with humourous defiance. \nSupport comes from the rather excellent PEARL HARTS and NEAR MOMENTS. \nAnother FACT >>>>\nE S T R O N S have been picked by the PRS & 6Music as one of six bands to appear at SSW.
