DESCRIPTION:THE PAD PRESENTS\nhttp://www.thepadpresents.com \nTHE BLOCKHEADS + Guests \nWe are very pleased to be bringing another (almost) last minute gig to Bedford Esquires on Wednesday 10th February\, with living legends The Blockheads coming to perform on the main stage\, \nFormed in 1977 to promote Ian Dury’s album New Boots and Panties on the first Stiff Records tour of the UK.  \nThe Blockheads are now fronted by one of Ian’s best friends Derek ‘The Draw’\, the band’s vocalist and wordsmith. Chaz Jankel\, Norman Watt-Roy\, John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher still remain from the original band and the current line-up is augmented by John Roberts on drums and a rolling line up of saxophonists including Gilad Atzmon\, Terry Edwards or Dave Lewis. \nThese legendary Brit-Funkers will be playing all the old favourites and new material. \nIn 1978 Chaz composed ‘Hit me with your Rhythm Stick’ with Ian and in 1979 had a number one hit record. \nIn 1982 Ian Dury & The Blockheads disbanded and were not to play together again until 1987 when they went out to Japan to play three shows\, disbanding again until 1990 when the death of Charlie Charles in September of that year re-united them to play two Benefit gigs at The Forum\, Camden Town in aid of Charlie’s family. \nThe last performance by Ian Dury & The Blockheads was February 6th 2000 at The London Palladium.  \nIan died at 9am on 27th March 2000. \nAt this point the band had to make a decision to either stop or continue. He joined the Ramones in 1983 and first appeared with the band on their Subterranean Jungle tour. \nRichie performed in over 500 shows around the world with the Ramones and wrote several critically-acclaimed and fan-favuorite songs for the albums Animal Boy\, Too Tough to Die and Halfway to Sanity. Punk rock icon\, Joey Ramone\, remarked that “[Richie] saved the band as far as I’m concerned. He’s the greatest thing to happen to the Ramones. DESCRIPTION:The Wang Dang Doodle is a 4 piece Rock Blues band from all over Europe based in London\, UK. The band has been playing around pubs and clubs and is known for the adrenaline high shows combined with great musicianship and skills. \nThe band consists of four friends that have played as sidemen with artists and bands like Mick Taylor\, Ronnie Wood\, The Pretty Things\, Nine below Zero and have worked within studios and with organizations like Metropolis and Musician Union. \nThey are Laurent Mouflier on harp and vocals\, Kosmas Mylon on guitar\, Francesco Cuturi on drums. \nInfluenced by the blues greats such as Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf they set upon playing the blues across UK and Europe. Soon\, the WDD started to work on their music. DESCRIPTION:The Wang Dang Doodle is a 4 piece Rock Blues band from all over Europe based in London\, UK. The band has been playing around pubs and clubs and is known for the adrenaline high shows combined with great musicianship and skills. \nThe band consists of four friends that have played as sidemen with artists and bands like Mick Taylor\, Ronnie Wood\, The Pretty Things\, Nine below Zero and have worked within studios and with organizations like Metropolis and Musician Union. \nThey are Laurent Mouflier on harp and vocals\, Kosmas Mylon on guitar\, Francesco Cuturi on drums. \nInfluenced by the blues greats such as Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf they set upon playing the blues across UK and Europe. Soon\, the WDD started to work on their music.
