SUMMARY:DREADZONE + DJ Greg Dread
DESCRIPTION:DREADZONE + DJ Greg Dread \n7:30pm Sat 26th October\, Bedford Esquires \nAfter numerous sell out shows at Bedford Esquires we are pleased to announce Dreadzone return as part of their autumn tour to promote their new album NINE. \nNine is the ninth official studio album from Dreadzone which is due for release in October 2024 on CD & Double Vinyl. It’s a reflection of the last 5 years and a culmination of growing and re-inventing the Dread sound. Dreadzone have been releasing albums and progressively bettering\, refining and perfecting their own unique and inimitable take on dub since their inception in 1993. They have successfully navigated through an ever-changing musical landscape and have been a creative force now for over three decades. \nAfter celebrating their 30-year anniversary in 2023\, Nine welcomes the next phase of Dread with nine songs about redemption and division\, love and loss and journeys inside\, and around the earth. The album treads into new territories but still connects with the ambience of early Dreadzone albums. \nAt the helm is producer\, founder\, writer and drummer Greg Dread with bass-master Leo Williams plus Bazil and Blake Roberts with new faces and voices joining Earl 16 and Spee on vocals on the record. Nine also features LSK (Faithless)\, Cheshire Cat (Leftfield)\, Zoe Devlin (Alabama 3) and contributions from Don Letts and original Dreadzone member Tim Bran. \nDreadzone’s last studio album ‘Dread Times’\, released on their own Dubwiser label\, stormed into the Top 40 UK Official Album Charts on release – the first time the band have charted in over 20 years. \nTickets priced £25 are on sale from Wednesday 26th October from Seetickets online and in person (booking fee free) from Esquires Bar and Slide Record Shop.

SUMMARY:The Wave Pictures & Tugboat Captain
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 1998 in the tiny rural village of Wymeswold in northern Leicestershire\, lead singer and guitarist David Tattersall\, bassist Franic Rozycki\, and drummer Jonny “Huddersfield” Helm were heavily influenced by both the music played by John Peel and their parents classic rock collections. They soon relocated to London\, signed to Moshi Moshi records and have released literally countless highly acclaimed albums (as well as finding time to collaborate with acts such as Darren Hayman\, Herman Dune\, The Mountain Goats\, Jeffrey Lewis and Stanley Brinks)\nMuch loved by 6 Music\, The Wave Pictures are scarily prolific with a formidable discography. Frontman Tattersall is both a brilliant songwriter and guitarist\, often compared to Tom Verlaine (Television)\, Jonathan Richman and Johnny Marr.\n\n“David Tattersall is the greatest guitarist of his generation” – Marc Riley\, BBC Radio 6\n\nWith a career that now spans over two decades\, The Wave Pictures are much more than a cult concern. The regularly sell out venues like The Lexington (London) and The Portland Arms (Cambridge) and headline stages at Festivals like Indietracks\, End of the Road\, Green Man and Primavera Sound (Barcelona).\n\n“They’re possibly the best live band we’ve ever worked with” – Moshi Moshi Records\n\nTickets are £17.50 in advance\, available from www.seetickets.com and from Slide Records (Bedford) and Esquires Bar (with no booking fees).\n\nIn association with Arts Council England\, a limited number of tickets will be available for £5 for those on a low income or struggling with increases in the cost of living.

SUMMARY:HAYSEED DIXIE
DESCRIPTION:HAYSEED DIXIE + GUESTS7:30pm Friday 18th October\, Esquires Bedford\n\nWe’re very pleased to be bringing ‘maximum rockgrass’ back to Bedford for the first time in over half a decade\, when Hayseed Dixie return to Esquires main stage!\n\nHayseed Dixie began one innocent Summer day in 2000 when John Wheeler and Mike Daly drank roughly enough whiskey to float a battleship from the Florida Coast over to Portugal and back and decided to play around in John’s studio. Having spent the previous few years touring around with assorted country hat-acts\, John had assembled a proper pile of recording equipment.\n\nThus when he and Mike discovered in their drunken epiphany that the Lost Highway of Reverend Hank Williams and the Highway to Hell of Bishop Bon Scott were indeed the same identical stretch of tarmac\, they were well and truly prepared to document this revelation in situ.\nSpecial guests to be announced.\n\nTickets are on sale now from Seetickets\, Slide and Esquires bar.

SUMMARY:Steve Ignorant Band - CRASS songs 1977-1984 - Matinee Show
DESCRIPTION:Steve Ignorant Band + Headsticks + Club Brat\nCRASS songs 1977-1984 and Ignorant Classics with his band:\nMatinee show – 4pm – 7pm Sunday 13th October\, 2024.\n\nAfter the huge success of performing CRASS songs at The Last Supper Tour in 2010-11 and playing at most of the\nbig punk festivals in 2016-2018\, Steve Ignorant has started to tour again. Having played at sold out UK shows earlier\nin the year\, Steve will be taking the IGNORANT TOUR to Europe in October 2022 and planning a World Tour the\nfollowing year.\n\nThe band will be performing the best CRASS material from 1977 – 1982. ‘Do They Owe Us A Living’ and ‘Big A Little\nA’ to name a few. ‘Poison In A Pretty Pill’ and ‘Berkertex Bribe’ are some of the songs that will be performed by\nCarol Hodge\, the female vocalist.\n\nThis is your chance to hear the songs of arguably Britain’s top and most influential Anarcho-Punk band\, as played by\nthe original lead singer Steve Ignorant and his superb band. Performed with the same anger and intensity of those\ndays\, the band has given these songs a new lease of life.\nThe political and lyrical ideas of CRASS are even more relevant today as they were then and with the entire CRASS\nCatalogue having been remastered and reissued through One Little Independent in April 2019\, the interest in\nCRASS and what it stands for has increased and intensified.\n\n“What it says on the tin. A raw\, ragged but quite incredible performance. The same members as Slice Of Life but this\nis Crass songs given a new lease of life.” says Ged Babey.\n\n“Is it just pure nostalgia? Young cynics may ask. Fuck\, no I’d say. Nostalgia would be crass. And this is the Steve\nIgnorant Band 2021. There is no ‘going thru the motions’\, no ‘You might remember this one..’ intro’s. And the blood\n(coursing thru their veins) sweat (dripping onto the stage) and tears (running down the co-vocalists face) are very\nreal. This is authentic looking back in anger….”\n\n*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A MATINEE SHOW DOORS AT 4PM FINISHING AROUND 7PM – THE BAR WILL BE OPEN FROM 3PM\nTickets priced £17 are on sale from Seetickets from 10am on Weds 18th October and available in person from Slide Record Shop and Esquires Bar (booking fee free)

SUMMARY:Dekker + Katie Keddie
DESCRIPTION:DEKKER + Katie Keddie 7:30pm\, Wednesday 9th October\, Esquires Bedford\n\nWe’re very pleased to be working with one of our favourite artists\, Dekker on a run of shows as part of his UK tour\, stopping off at Esquires\, Bedford on Wednesday 9th October.\n\nAmerican singer/songwriter Brookln Dekker\, better known by his surname-moniker\, DEKKER (and for wearing his unique wide-brimmed hat) released his third album earlier this Spring\, again collaborating with Berlin drummer Stefan Wittich and mixing & mastering from Zach Hanson (Bon Iver\, The Staves\, Whitney) the album has a familiar yet fresh sound and feel.\n\nThe European continent was earlier to catch on to Dekker’s indie-folk music laced with falsetto and nylon string guitar. After a hugely successful\, sold-out album release tour over there that saw him performing for 500-1000 people a night\, he is turning his gaze back to his adopted homeland. Dekker’s release show at the Lexington in London on the 1st of March was sold out and it seems like the UK have catching wind of what Dekker is up to. Dekker will hit the UK circuit for a 11-show tour in September/October after playing huge festival stages around Europe this summer.\n\nDekker\, who has lived in Nottingham\, England since 2010\, grew up in the midwest of America. After over 20 years of writing and playing (thousands of shows) with bands and projects (including Rue Royale\, Lambert & Dekker)\, it’s all come together for Brookln in the form of Dekker.\n\n\nTickets go on sale Friday 7th June from Seetickets and are also available from Slide Record Shop and Esquires Bar

SUMMARY:SNAYX + Alien Chicks
DESCRIPTION:SNAYX + Alien Chicks7:30pm Friday 4th October\, Bedford Esquires\n\nSNAYX were formed from a mosh pit. Sure\, the Brighton & Sheffield based trio have been in other bands before\, dabbling in everything from indie rock to ska\, but those groups never incited the communal carnage that Charlie Herridge\, Ollie Horner and Lainey Loops crave.\nSo they formed SNAYX\, originally a two-piece\, now a three. For a good chunk of time though\, SNAYX was more of an idea than an actual band since the pair were too busy going to as many gigs as possible\, rather than working on things like songs. They’d talk about SNAYX to anyone who would…\n\nLast seen ripping up the Esquires stage at Ceremony #3 Festival we have been craving to get the band back to the venue for more of the same.\n\nTickets priced £14 go on general release from Seetickets on Friday 14th June at 10am.

SUMMARY:TOM VEK + Max Taylor
DESCRIPTION:TOM VEK + Max Taylor \n7:30pm\, Thursday 3rd October\, Bedford Esquires \nWe are extremely excited to announce that we have secured a date with the incredible Tom Vek in October! Anyone who came to our weekly ‘Loaded’ club night at The Pad (RIP) will have heard us pumping out CC (You Set The Fire In Me) and Nothing But Green Lights on a weekly basis. Tom’s first album\, the cult classic ’ We Have Sound’\, was (and still is) one of our favourite albums from a period where indie-rock exploded on the airwaves and the dancefloor; a loosely based driving concept album that was a breath of fresh air and shot in the arm at the time. Tom has rarely toured over the years\, so for us to be able to get a date here in Bedford is somewhat of a coup. \nFollowing his recent self-released EP Confirm Yourself\, Tom will head out on a 12 date UK tour\, his most extensive for ten years. Tickets available from Friday 31st May from his official website – Sign up to Tom’s mailing list to access the pre-sale. \nAfter the avant-garde mix of sounds of Tom’s fourth album New Symbols\, the Confirm Yourself EP saw a return to a raw guitar-based live sound. Always fiercely independent\, Tom played every instrument\, produced and mixed every track. The EP is a collection of self-assured personal mantras\, indeed encouraging the listener to “Confirm Yourself” too. \nTickets go on general sale at 10am\, Friday 31st May – available from Seetickets and Local outlets of Slide Record Shop and Esquires Bar \n

SUMMARY:A Place to Bury Strangers + Stella Rose
DESCRIPTION:A Place to Bury Strangers + Stella Rose \n7:30pm\, Monday 30th September\, Bedford Esquires \nFans all over the globe know: Oliver Ackermann always brings surprises. The singer and guitarist of New York City’s A Place To Bury Strangers has been delighting and astonishing his audience for close to two decades\, combining post-punk\, noise-rock\, shoegaze\, psychedelia\, and avant-garde music in startling and unexpected ways. \nAs the founder of Death By Audio\, creator of signal-scrambling stomp boxes and visionary instrument effects\, he’s exported that excitement and invention to other artists who plug into his gear and blow minds. \nIn concert\, A Place To Bury Strangers is nothing short of astounding — a shamanistic experience that bathes listeners in glorious sound\, crazed left turns\, transcendent vibrations\, real-time experiments\, brilliant breakthroughs. \nHe’s refreshed the group’s lineup\, adding bassist John Fedowitz and drummer Sandra Fedowitz\, and the band has never sounded more current\, or more courageous\, or more accessibly melodic. \nGhettoblaster wrote that the band’s racket outpaced everything to emerge from New York City in the past decade. Brooklyn Vegan praised Ackermann’s “terrific\, emotive” singing\, and lauded the group’s recent commitment to foregrounding its melodies and lyrics. \nTickets are on sale now from Seetickets\, Slide Record Shop and Esquires Bar.

The album presents a harmonious blend of glacial-paced melodies\, Nyabinghi percussion\, mandolin\, and acoustic guitar\, offering a unique fusion of elements. \nSETI\, which stands for Search For Extra terrestrial Intelligence\, not only explores the universe but also provides a comfortable\, chill-out space within its musical ambience. This record is a testament to the creative synergy between Paterson and Falconer\, who effortlessly navigate uncharted musical territory\, building on decades of trust and shared curiosity. \nWhat’s more\, 2024 will be graced by an up-to-date Best of The Orb set \nGust support comes from VIOLETA VICCI. \nVioleta spent her childhood summers in an 19th century cottage in a Swiss alpine valley – Cavaglia\, Val Poschiavo\, situated at 1750 m.s.l. To create this album\, she took to translating the pristine valley and its surrounding lakes and glaciers\, into music. Highlighting the fragility of the environment and the beauty and the devastation created by climate change\, the album incorporates the natural world into it’s very fabric; each song a different place on the map\, creating soundscapes with violin\, viola\, cello and vocals in combination with electronics made out of field recordings passed through modular synths\, masterfully produced by collaborator Roger Goula. \nTickets priced £27.50 are on sale from Seetickets from 10am on Wednesday 20th March from Seetickets and in person from Slide Record Shop snd Esquires Bar. \n14+ only. 14s to 16s must be accompanied by an adult. No refunds will be given for incorrectly booked tickets.
