PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING + Broken DC

August 10, 2013 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The Roar Club and Club Biscuit can excitedly confirm that one of the hottest bands of 2013 will be appearing at Bedford Esquires on Saturday 10th August.

When a band gets compared to acts as diverse as Kraftwerk, British Sea Power, Lemon Jelly and Sonic Youth, it gives you some idea of how unique they are. Public Service Broadcasting are the corduroy-clad brainchild of a certain J. Willgoose, Esq. who, along with his drumming companion, ‘Wrigglesworth’, are on a mission to inform, educate and entertain audiences around the globe.

In their own words, they are ‘teaching the lessons of the past through the music of the future’ and their spell-binding live transmissions see them weave samples from old public information films, archive footage and propaganda material around live drums, guitar, banjo and electronics to create something truly magical and unmissable.

Recently released debut album ‘INFORM – EDUCATE – ENTERTAIN’ was named album of the month by Artrocker Magazine. Unquestionably one of musical achievements of the year it received rave reviews and crashed into the top 20 but their live performances add another dimension to it entirely as the band have recently sold out venues up and down the country on an extensive UK tour.

Over the summer months Public Service Broadcasting will be appearing at Glastonbury, the Secret Garden Party, Wickerman, Standon Calling, Green Man, Jodrell Bank at the request of New Order, plus a high profile support slot with the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park and we are absolutely thrilled that they’ve agreed to find a space in their busy schedule to play a gig at little Bedford Esquires. We’re confident in saying that this will be one of those ‘were you there?’ events…

Artrocker: “Genuinely original, innovating and amazing”

“Adrenalised post-rock and electronics… Gripping” 4/5 MOJO

Time Out: “Inspirational stuff”

Buzz Magazine 5/5 Everest Single Review “The year’s finest pop moment”

If that’s not enough, support on the evening will come from the newly formed Broken DC, who made a massive impression on us when they played with Bo Ningen at Esquires a few weeks ago.
