Black Mekon & Cherry Pickles plus Exploding Ear Ensemble

August 18, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm

£7

KMP is proud to present a double bill of two of the UK’s finest garage blues outfits, Black Mekon and Cherry Pickles ! If you enjoyed the recent Daddy Long Legs show at Bedford Esquires you’ll want to get down to this. For fans of the Cramps, Crypt Records, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and feral RnB.

Black Mekon have shared the stage with the likes of Jon Spencer, Kid Congo Powers (ex Cramps, Bad Seeds, Gun Club), The Scientists and many more. Their run of shows with King Brothers last year were some of the craziest KMP have ever seen!
With a bagful of albums and 7 inches under their belt including their incredibly ambitious 45 Consortium singles club (which featured splits with Bob Log II, and others) they are about to unleash their latest long player DESTROY NOSTALGIA on PNKSLM Recordings, 10 songs lamenting/urging the death of the past.

Cherry Pickles were conceived over a bucks fizz binge in Birmingham in early 2018, coming at you like the basement band you always wanted to start. Priscila B brings from Brazil her love of early Tropicalia and the kind of ‘let’s be bad’ attitude that can only come from a land chock full of Catholic guilt. Mimi B brings her love of stripped down, bare essential rhythm. If two drums are good enough for Peggy O’Neill then they should definitely be good enough for you. Together they bonded over a mutual love of 50s malt-shop-pop, 60s minimalist garage, no wave, fuzz and all forms of outsider art. Cherry Pickles’ debut LP Cherry Pickles Will Harden Your Nipples was released on April 5th 2019 via PNKSLM Recordings following the band’s storming US debut at SXSW.

Support comes from MK based mutant punk group Exploding Ear Ensemble.

Tickets £7 adv, available  from Seetickets. Doors at 8pm.
